The Three Billy Goats Gruff

07 Jan 2024

Jacksons Lane

It’s been a long year. The goats have empty bellies, and there is nothing left on their side of the valley. The only solution is to cross the bridge to the lush green grass on the other side. But hiding beneath the bridge lurks a troll just waiting for the trip trap of tiny hooves… will the goats ever make it?

Join Jacksons Lane for a unique adaptation of the classic tale of the three very young hungry goats this Christmas!

Created by Kaveh Rahnama, writer and director of last year’s brilliant adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk and 2021’s fantastic A Christmas Circus Fairytale. Expect wonderful storytelling, laughter, and acrobatics, as they venture to cross the rickety bridge. Guaranteed to get you in the mood for Christmas and be talked about long afterwards.

Suitable for ages 3+

Relaxed performances on Saturday 16 December at 2pm, Thursday 4 January at 1:30pm and Saturday 6 January at 11am.

While we do our best to ensure that all performances at Jacksons Lane are as accessible as possible, we do occasionally hold Relaxed performances for productions that are with us slightly longer. We are holding three Relaxed performances for The Three Billy Goats Gruff. These will take place on:

Saturday 16 December at 2pm
Thursday 4 January at 1:30pm

If you are not familiar with what relaxed performances are, these are showings that are specifically designed to be more accessible to anybody who may be more anxious about attending the theatre or might benefit from a more relaxed performance environment. This might include those who are neurodivergent, as well as young children or those who have not been to a theatre before. These shows provide an inclusive and relaxed space for all to enjoy live theatre and can often provide a more enjoyable experience all round. Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of whether they feel they need the additional support that these shows offer or not.

For our relaxed performances at Jacksons Lane we:

  • Have visual story guides available in advance, which provide information about the cast and performance
  • Offer sensory touch tours of the set and materials before the show
  • Provide a welcome introduction from the cast at the start of the show
  • Keep the auditorium lights on throughout the show
  • Have reduced volume during the show
  • Allow audience members to come and go more freely from the theatre space and have a more relaxed attitude towards audience noise and movement during the show
  • Have breakout spaces available for those who are finding the experience overwhelming and need somewhere quiet to sit for a short while.
