Christmas Day at Jacksons Lane
Our Christmas Day programme is our oldest and dearest to our hearts; it harkens back to Jacksons Lane’s earliest days as a church, as well as it’s community-oriented origins in the 1970s.
For decades people have sought community within our building during the festive period. And we have no intention of stopping now.
The operation is entirely volunteer-led. For many volunteers, helping out here has become as much of a tradition in their families as stockings, carols and cold turkey sandwiches on Boxing Day.
A taste of our Christmas cheer
Because of social distancing measures in 2020, we were unable to have people in our building as usual. This didn’t stop us from supporting people in need during the festive period.
It took some doing, but we were able to create and distribute 248 festive hampers, crammed full of food, drink and gifts on Christmas Day.
This year, we’re aiming to reach more vulnerable adults than ever, who would otherwise be on their own at Christmas. We’re once more running our sit-down lunch in our brand-new building for nearly 100 older adults, and continuing our newly designed delivery service from 2020 for up to 200 isolated people, operating out of one of our studios.
Please contact [email protected] if you’d like to refer an adult in need on Christmas Day.
