Thimble Theatre & Tit for Tat

A performer dances on stage with a mannequin.
A performer sits at a desk with a snapped pencil in his hands, he looks frustrated.

Born with degenerative hearing loss, and growing up outside of Deaf Culture, Nathan embarks on a quest to belong. Absurd, satirical and sincere, Shush explores existing between worlds of the hearing and the Deaf whilst belonging to neither.

Using social media, discussion forums and interviews, Shush draws on the collective experiences of the Deaf, the Hard of Hearing and the Hearing to uncover theatrical common ground and tackle social issues.

Shush is a co-production between Tit For Tat and Thimble Theatre. Tit for Tat is an unusual circus-theatre company that believes in celebrating the ordinary. Thimble Theatre is a cross-platform theatre company with a focus on new writing and devised work.

This is a work in progress performance, and is an opportunity for the performers to share ideas with a live and receptive audience. There will be a Q&A following the performance, so please do come with an open mind and creative questions.
