cirQueer is presented as part of And What? Queer. Arts. Festival. 2020 and brings you the best in new queer circus.

In this spectacular mixed bill, cirQueer is proud to present the first full-length showing of The Chosen Haram by Sadiq and Hauk. Performed on two Chinese poles, this piece is an intimate and honest portrayal of a love between two men from different worlds:  burdened by cultural obstacles, they seek a pathway together to express their love. The Chosen Haram was listed by The Stage as one of the Top 5 Circus Shows of 2019.

But that’s not all! As an amuse bouche cirQueer will also present Cirq in Progress, short and tasty delights from the queer heroes of the circus world:

  • Deja da'Bomb, drag alter ego of Lj Marles (tension straps): 3…2…1… Boom! Deja Da’Bomb is ready to explode... international circus artist Lj Marles is here to flaunt his aerial skills with all-new added Nails, Hair, Hips and Heels.   • Lady Noelia (burlesque, fire-eating)
  • Lee Keenor (hand-balancing): A multi-talented circus artists specialising in hand-balancing, Lee graduated from the National Centre for Circus Arts in 2019 and has worked across the country at the finest venues and with the finest companies.   • Cleopantha (burlesque): an extraordinary and fierce performer, known for fusing hip hop and commercial dance with striptease. Her performances are high energy with a sprinkle of badass attitude.
