Stuart Cox, CEO of Hoxton Hall, shares his journey from his Hoxton family roots and Essex childhood to his career in the arts. He discusses his drama school experience, professional acting, and finding his place in musical theatre, emphasizing the importance of inclusive cultural spaces. Cox reflects on early career challenges that prepared him for roles at Blue Elephant Theatre and Jacksons Lane, highlighting pivotal moments that taught him resilience and kindness. During his time at Jacksons Lane from 2012 to 2018, he focused on community engagement and project development. He recounts the start of his role during the Olympics, the strategic National Heritage Lottery-funded project, and the initial challenges of building relationships in Tottenham.
