Sarah Gavron

Oral Histories

Sarah Gavron grew up at Jacksons Lane and spent hours sitting under the table while her mum, Nicky Gavron, and the other founders and early supporters of Jacksons Lane grew the iconic arts centre we know today. Sarah shares how Jacksons Lane has influenced her creative and successful career as a Film Director, as well as the memories of her incredible mum who went onto be the first Deputy Mayor of London and a lifetime cheerleader for Jacksons Lane, right up until Nicky sadly passed away in 2024.

This interview was conducted on 5th September 2025 by Marie Horner, Oral History Project Producer at Jacksons Lane.
