Kenneth Tharp

Kenneth Tharp, CBE, chats about his dance career, from growing up in Croydon and Glasgow to training at London Contemporary Dance Theatre. He mentions performing at Jacksons Lane and his time as artistic director of Sadler’s Wells Youth Dance Company. Tharp also talks about his work as Assistant Director of Culture and Creativity for Haringey, focusing on arts in education and community development. He shares insights into his journey to Joint Director of Culture and Communities, including the perks of job sharing with Yamin Choudhury and getting to know the council’s community inside out. Tharp underlines how important culture is for tackling local issues, like health differences in Haringey, and how Jacksons Lane plays a big part in the community and the Borough of Culture.
