We're thrilled to announce a new project, Jacksons Grow, which has been funded by the People’s Postcode Lottery in order to engage local residents within the community and to create environmental change.
Jacksons Grow will be a volunteer-led project that will give local residents the opportunity to develop new skills and to meet new people along the way.
Jacksons Lane will work with great organisations such as the Bridge Renewal Trust and Homes For Haringey to help recruit volunteers. To engage young people, we'll also be working with local schools and groups.
Through working on an environmental plan, we were able to identify the garden space as a potential opportunity to hire, train and support volunteers to run their own gardens. The Jacksons Grow project will help with increased engagement for local residents from involving volunteers to take ownership of a community space as well as working towards improvement for the environment. To ensure this project becomes self-sustaining, we will encourage and promote recycling by taking part in composting, which will save money every year.
The main benefits will be supporting our community projects from the food that will be grown and we will also be able to partner with our local community Café Theadro. Local residents can also enjoy the new and improved garden space.
This will all be instilled across the whole of Jacksons Lane by partnering with Julie’s Bicycle to help us achieve the industry certification.
If you are passionate about gardens and the local community, please join us at our launch event on Friday 16 February 2018, 2pm–4pm, to get involved!
