To all the art adventure seekers and art revolutionaries! BrainFools are back at Jacksons Lane. After our series of four mind-bending scratch nights, we’re ripping up the rule book of scratch and diving headfirst into a whirlpool of unfiltered creativity.
This evening’s theme is ‘Clowns are in the house’. Forget red noses and oversized shoes, these ain’t your average clowns. They’re the rebels of the ridiculous, the jesters of the unexpected, the masters of mayhem. Prepare to dive headfirst into a world of absurd antics, where laughter is the weapon of choice and the only rule is to break all the rules. It’s a chance to witness the art of clowning stripped bare, raw and unfiltered, in a celebration of the weird, the wonderful, and the downright bizarre.
Line-up includes:
Rosie Yadid is a burlesque clown native to ‘Nu Yawkah’ and enjoys nothing more than chugging Seltzer and belching in a grandiose fashion. She recently received the title of Runner Up of Burlesque Idol 2024, and when weather permits, Rosie can be found playing at Goth Picnic, a free, improvised clown show in Kensington Gardens. When not on stage, Rosie is coaching others to empower their voices and guide them towards authentic expression.
Lachlan Werner is comedy’s poof prince of puppets. The “funniest new ventriloquist on the block” (Telegraph), clown and live artist, his work combines physical comedy, ventriloquism and horror theatrics. He was runner up for LGBTQ+ New Comedian Of The Year ’22 and a nominee for BBC New Comedy Award, Chortle Best Variety Act, ISH Best Newcomer Edinburgh Comedy Award, Off-West End Cabaret Award, Soho Playhouse New York Award.
Enrico Touché brings to the stage their magic touch to entertain you with an eclectic mix of some serious business. Simon is a cabaret performer whose unique take on clowning, trapeze and singing has been entertaining audiences at some of the UK’s top cabarets. With their playful energy and irreverent humour they bring a unique blend of chaos and whimsy to every performance sharing their joy for the absurd.
Ben Kaufman is a circus performer from Brattleboro, Vermont based in London UK. Specialising in clowning, handbalancing, hula hooping, and acrobatics, they’ve toured with Circus Smirkus for three years and have since performed with AIDA Cruises, Circus Culture, Cirq Motif, Confetti Cabaret, Metta Theatre, Cirque Du Soleil and VStar Entertainment, Nimble Arts, Bread & Puppet, and The Boston Circus Guild to name a few.
Bara & Afrika are two clowns from the National Centre for Circus arts where Afrika specialises in Chinese pole and Bara in Cyr wheel. In this “reverse burlesque” act, Bara and Afrika will wow you with their floppy pole skills (also known as rope), getting more sexy with each layer they put on. Expect puffy jackets, mismatched socks and lots of hair whips.
Darryl J Carrington’s infectious energy and passion for his craft make him a beloved performer wherever he goes. His dedication to continual improvement and his unique blend of humour and skill have captivated audiences of all ages worldwide. In this new act Darryl is exploring a new costume and character, who’s more prickly than the average bear.
