After almost half a century of linking communities across North London through artistic pursuits, Jacksons Lane is now undergoing the undergoing redevelopment in its history.

In November 2020, work began on a major redevelopment project, designed by renowned architects Citizens Design Bureau, which will completely re-imagine our home on Archway Road. Our historic building will be made new again, providing an extraordinary cultural experience for everyone.

Our home, which is North London’s premier artistic space, is a Grade II-listed Edwardian building. Originally a Methodist church, the site within which Jacksons Lane resides is over 115 years old.

First opened in 1905, the building is no longer suitable for long-term future use unless we carry out major redevelopment work. Otherwise, our work with communities and artists from North London and beyond will be at risk.

Our biggest priorities are to:

  • Make our building fully physically accessible in a post-COVID environment
  • Create dynamic, properly equipped studio spaces that help users push boundaries of artistic excellence
  • Welcome new generations of visitors, sparking their curiosity and inspiring them to return over and over again
  • Make ourselves financially and environmentally sustainable for the future

We're incredibly grateful to both Arts Council England and the London Borough of Haringey, who have contributed over £3m towards the project. Jacksons Lane is also contributing its own funds and receiving support from trusts and foundations.

We need your help to make this transformation happen. Your support will ensure Jacksons Lane bursts with activity morning, noon and night, offering a vibrant artistic programme and creative learning opportunities for all.

Improved access, facilities and spaces will ensure that Jacksons Lane can provide a better service to the hundreds of people from all ages and backgrounds who use the building and our services every day.

This redevelopment will allow us to impact many more lives within the communities across North London who we engage with.

Jacksons Lane is unique, with a distinctive offering, progressive ethos and welcoming character, unlike any other arts venue. This redevelopment project will not change this – rather, it will allow us to broadcast these core values more clearly and more widely.
