Bowen Technique… Beginners’ Training Course with Helen Perkins

Helen Mary Perkins is a gifted complementary therapist and award-winning instructor accredited by the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia, home of the Original Bowen Technique. She is a former chairman of Bowen Training UK.

Named after founder Tom Bowen, this gentle therapy can produce a profound effect on a variety of physical and emotional problems. Clients often report a noticeable improvement in their overall sense of wellbeing due to feeling less stressed and enjoying more restful sleep.

Treatment comprises a series of subtle yet precise moves, or procedures, over muscle and connective tissue (fascia) to assist the body in re-setting itself to facilitate natural healing. In this unique way it is totally different to any other form of manual therapy.

Bowen is suitable for all ages from small babies to the frail elderly, and those who may be considered vulnerable in some way.

Training is open to all regardless of age, background or career history. Learning Bowen Technique can open the door to a highly rewarding career, offering therapists an alternative lifestyle while helping others to improve their own health.

This beginners’ training course covers seven modules and usually takes up to 10 months to complete, allowing sufficient time between each class to practice and consolidate learning. There is no requirement for previous complementary therapy experience, making it ideal for anyone considering a change of career as well as qualified therapists from other modalities who wish to add Bowen to their existing skill set.

Helen’s training course has been available at Jacksons Lane since 2024, where her ‘intuitive and supportive’ teaching style is much appreciated by students. Among them is Sharmila Hume from the Holistic Hub in North London, who described it as the ‘best learning experience’ of her career. “Helen is a supportive instructor taking every student’s ability and circumstances into account. She is well organised, providing excellent resources and her expertise is second to none,” she said.

“From the start Helen put us all at ease regardless of existing experience in the health and wellness space; it was because of her empathy and skill that we bonded so well as a group.”

An instructor since 2013, Helen also runs a thriving practice in Cambridgeshire while very much enjoying teaching others. “I feel privileged to be able to inspire the next generation of Bowen Technique therapists especially as people seek ways of improving their health in a more holistic way,” she said.

Aftercare is equally important to Helen, who is available in between modules and post-qualification, to answer questions or offer 1-2-1 coaching to increase confidence and reinforce learning. She also offers CPD training. Please contact Helen to request a free Prospectus.
