Archway Road Services and Information – Updated January 2021

Last week, the Government confirmed our worst fears, and implemented a second nationwide lockdown on the country. As cases of Covid-19 have risen across the country, businesses have prepared themselves for another period of uncertainty. Today is the day that the new lockdown begins.

The thoughts of the entire Jacksons Lane team is on our local community, our colleagues in the world of circus and performing arts, and people across the world who are suffering from the impact (directly and indirectly), of Covid-19.

Sometimes, adversity brings out the best in people. Time and again, the country has been moved by the stories of people going to the extra mile to help one another during this difficult time.

The same applies to the brilliant businesses and services of Archway Road. Since March, they have bent over backwards to provide locals with a slice of normality, where possible.

Once again, as the new restrictions loom, shops up and down Archway Road are adapting their services to ensure that we can cope during the dark winter ahead.

Here is an updated look at the services available in the area.

We will be regularly updating this page, to ensure that locals have access to accurate, up-to-date information. Check back in for additional information about businesses and services as lockdown continues. This document is up to date as of January 2021.

Digital Entertainment

Unlike the March lockdown, the days are short and the nights are bitter. This means that it’s important that you keep your mind stimulated whilst spending extended periods of time indoors.

Some of Highgate’s best entertainment venues have produced some cracking content to do just that from the comfort of your home.

Jacksons Lane, Online

Since March, we’ve produced a range of activities that are accessible to people of all ages and abilities to keep you engaged remotely while remaining socially distanced. Here’s a look at the content that is available at the click of a button.

JL Shorts. Looking for a quick burst of creativity to get your mornings up and running? Then our JL Shorts series is just the ticket. These short and sharp 2-minute videos will teach you the fundamentals of circus, such as handstands, juggling and acrobalance. Feeling ambitious? You can view them all on our YouTube playlist here.

JL Circus: Quarantine Sessions. If the JL Shorts whetted your appetite for more circus, we have longer classes available too. Our JL Circus Quarantine Sessions are longer, in-depth introductions to the circus led by professional circus artists. And best of all, they’re completely free!

We regularly host brilliant classes and courses inside Jacksons Lane. In the current circumstances, most of these are now available remotely.

Boogaloo Radio, 312 Archway Road

Although the Boogaloo’s famed dancefloor will be closed to the public during the impending lockdown, would-be revelers can still enjoy its eclectic mix of tunes daily, as Boogaloo Radio will continue to be broadcasting. Tune in to hear music, local news and more daily.
