Showwomen and Their Heritage

A workshop with Dr Marisa Carnesky

Join Dr Marisa Carnesky in an inspiring and informative Saturday afternoon workshop, ahead of her brand new spectacular touring show that hits Jackson Lane next summer, to explore how the legacy of women from over a century of British variety performance informs women in new popular performance today.

Looking specifically at her research informed by materials about lesser-known British women performers from the 1930s to the 1950s, the workshop will include a short lecture, followed by a practical devising session using live art and new cabaret processes, archival footage, props and costumes to explore the creation of new performing identities and their relationship to women’s entertainment heritage.

Workshop open to all adults
