Stage & the City

[External Hire]

Stage & the City’s Musical Theatre Troupe proudly present RENT!

With Music, Book and Lyrics by Jonathan Larson, RENT takes the starving artists of Puccini’s ‘La Boheme’, and transplants them to Lower Manhattan’s East Village in the early 1990s. Dancers, singers, filmmakers, artists, and computer genius activists, the residents of Alphabet City strive to live according to their bohemian ideals, and to care for each other, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

As relevant as it was 30 years ago, RENT reminds us of the importance of love, chosen family and community, and to live every day as yourself, after all, there is no day but today.

RENT was originally produced in New York by New York Theatre Workshop and on Broadway by Jeffery Seller, Kevin McCollum, Allan S. Gordon and New York Theatre Workshop.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.co.uk
