Now

For 50 years, Jacksons Lane has championed bold, boundary-pushing performance, led by the visionary work of women. From 1970s feminist theatre groups to today’s experimental artists, our spaces have long amplified women’s voices.

To celebrate our 50th birthday, we present Feminist Theatre: Then and Now — a day of workshops, performances and conversations exploring how feminist performance has evolved and where it’s going next.

Join artists and activists for a dynamic celebration of feminist theatre’s past, present and future through song, storytelling, discussion and reflection.

Morning workshop: starts 11am until 12.30pm followed by a shared lunch

Join theatre-makers Clair Chapwell (Spare Tyre, Bolder Voices) and Rebecca Moss (Littlest Stunt) for a playful, participatory workshop celebrating 50 years of women’s theatre at Jacksons Lane. Through games, storytelling and group song-making, we’ll create a collective anthem that honours the voices, histories and creativity of women past and present. No experience needed — just bring your energy and openness.

Afternoon workshop: starts 1.30pm and finishes at 4.30pm

Explore the past, present and future of feminist theatre with a talk and Q&A from Susan Croft (Unfinished Histories) on the legacy of radical women’s performance.

Bex Moss hosts a lively conversation with Cunning Stunts’ Iris Walton and Fish (Sarah Krish) on activism, art and mischief.

The afternoon also features showcases of new feminist work, including The Bingo Wings and Littlest Stunt, plus a chance to share your own stories and memories from 50 years of women’s theatre.

Both workshops are free, and you can book your place below. We’d love for you to join us for the whole day — it’s set to be something really special.

Babes in arms are welcome. BSL interpretation can be arranged on request. For any access needs, please email [email protected].
