Circ-ulate work-in-progress sharings are the result of an exciting new interdisciplinary artist programme combining circus and theatre. An hour showcasing three innovative, boundary-pushing shows in the early stages of development. A space where playwrights, actors, directors, and circus performers sharing skills have created stories together.
Over the course of two weeks the artists attended workshops, skill sharing sessions and rehearsals lead by industry professionals designed to inspire collaboration between circus and theatre. Workshops have included circus skills, story development, integrating access, and planning for the future life of the shows. This is an opportunity to support these shows at the start of their development.
The three works shown will be:
Sweet Smoke by Roberta Livingstone
Directed by David Gilbert
Performed by Senayt Asefa and Eleanor Rattenbury
My Name is Sheena by Emma Kelly
Directed by Ebenezer Bambgoye
Performed by Elinor Solly, Helen Reuben, Gethin Aldermann and Michelle Ross
Twelve Ways the World Will End by A.C. Smith
Directed by Joanna Vymeris
Performed by Sophie Ablett and Jackie Le
This is the pilot programme for Circ-ulate run by Phoebe Hyder and Imy Wyatt Corner, who are interested in interdisciplinary bold dramatic storytelling.
