Award-winning comedian Nina Conti to compère SUSPENSE Festival’s Puppet Grinder Cabaret
Jacksons Lane is delighted to announce that award-winning comedian Nina Conti will be this year’s superb guest MC for the finale of SUSPENSE 2011, in this feast of skillful puppetry presented by Little Angel Theatre and Puppet Grinder.
Conti shot to fame in 2002 when she won the BBC New Comedy award. Since then she has won numerous other awards for her writing, acting and ventriloquism including the prestigious BARRY Award at the Melbourne comedy festival for her solo show Complete and Utter Conti (2007-08). Other shows include Evolution (2008-09) which toured Melbourne and to the Soho Theatre, London. Her most famous characters are the unforgettably depressed Monk and her newest creation Granny, Conti will also perform a slot during the cabaret.
This year’s cabaret will include performances from Sawchestra and Clementine the Living Fashion Doll. There will also be a performance from Blind Summit, fresh from their Edinburgh run of The Table, which won a ‘Fringe First’ award. The evening will also include a selection of intriguing animated short films.
Named as ‘Time Out Critics Choice’, Puppet Grinder previously performed this delectable adults-only cabaret at Little Angel Theatre and Jacksons Lane in 2009. This surreal yet spectacular cabaret also won the support of audiences and critics at The Assembly as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2009.
Puppet Grinder Cabaret takes place on Sunday 6 November, 8pm at Jacksons Lane.
