Jacksons Lane welcomes local community through the doors for Christmas Lunch
Jacksons Lane is delighted to open its doors once again to welcome around 100-150 older people, to its annual Christmas party. This 30 year-old Christmas tradition is provided for elderly and disabled people who would otherwise be spending the day on their own.
The day will include a three course Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, followed by afternoon tea, presents and a lively programme of entertainment throughout the day. Guests will also be treated to carol singing led by singers from the Highgate and Crouch End Choral Societies.
James Tilston, Jacksons Lane’s Chief Executive said ‘‘Christmas can be a difficult time for those who spend the day on their own. Thanks to the wonderful support of many valued volunteers, Jacksons Lane is delighted to offer elderly people a home from home for the day where they can enjoy a traditional Christmas in the good company of others. We look forward to bringing a sprinkling of Christmas cheer to the local community.’’
This special day is open to individuals or couples who live within a three mile radius of the centre (normally in the Boroughs of Haringey or Camden) and who for reasons of age or disability are in need of company on Christmas Day. It is organised and run by the help of a large and dedicated team of volunteers from the local community, and is financed through fundraising events and donations from local individuals, charities and businesses.
Jacksons Lane is looking for volunteer drivers who can help pick up and drop off guests in the morning and afternoon, and anyone with elderly care experience. If members of the community would like to get involved, please contact james@jacksonslane.org.uk.
