Islington Festive Family Fun Day
Sat 26 Nov 12PM
Jacksons Lane is bringing a dose of Christmas cheer to Archway on Friday 25 November and Saturday 26 November 2011 with a series of free festive events.
As part of Islington Council’s Christmas light switch-on, Jacksons Lane Youth Circus together with Jacksons Lane’s Associate Artists Square Peg and So & So Circus will be taking to the stage on Friday 25 November at 4.30pm with a festive performance to celebrate the countdown in style.
Islington Council’s leader Cllr Catherine West and the Mayor of Islington will switch on Archway's lights between 3.30pm-5.30pm.
The weekend’s festivities will continue with Islington Council’s family fun day on Saturday 26 November where the characters and puppets from Jacksons Lane’s Christmas show, The Enormous Turnip will be taking part in a number of street performances around Archway from 12.30 – 4pm.
Children and families are invited to come and meet the characters, sing along with their songs and check out their allotment favourites as they introduce their world (and vegetables!). Spectators are even invited to share their gardening tips!
James Tilston Chief Executive of Jacksons Lane said ‘‘We are delighted to be involved in this year’s Christmas light switch-on and festive fun day and look forward to bringing an entertaining line up of events to the residents of Archway.’’
The events have been organised by Islington Council and the Archway Town Centre Management Group, and funded by the Outer London Fund. For more information visit www.archwaytowncentre.co.uk.
The Enormous Turnip runs at Jacksons Lane from Saturday 3 – Saturday 31 December. Tickets can be purchased from www.jacksonslane.org.uk or by calling 020 8341 4421.
