Jacksons Lane announces London International Mime Festival and CircusFest 2012 in spring season

Jacksons Lane, North London’s vibrant hub for physical performance and contemporary circus announces its spring season which goes on sale to the general public today.
The spring season kicks-off with an immersive scientific experiment in {Event(Dimension):} by circus artists Sugar Beast Circus from Fri 27 – Sun 29 Jan as part of London International Mime Festival. This is the first time that Jacksons Lane will be a host venue for the annual visual theatre festival.
Jacksons Lane will join the line-up of London venues hosting Charles Dickens bi-centenary celebrations with a cosy night of story-telling presented by White Rabbit on Thu 23 Feb. Are You Sitting Comfortably features original stories by local writers brought to life by a host of special guest readers and inspired by Dickensian London.
The star of La Clique, Ursula Martinez directs the hilarious one-woman show, Northern Soul by performance artist, Victoria Melody from Fri 2 – Sat 3 Mar. Victoria immerses herself in other people’s worlds to examine national characteristics, focusing on the extraordinary in the everyday.
The Ethics of Progress follows from Wed 7 – Sat 10 Mar with an eye-opening performance lecture about cutting-edge science, presented by Unlimited Theatre’s Artistic Director Jon Spooner.
Returning to Jacksons Lane following a successful run in 2009 is Wake by the UK’s leading German wheel duo, Acrojou from Thu 15 – Sat 17 Mar. This is a poetic, uplifting acrobatic-theatre performance featuring German and Cyr wheels and a moving set.
Fresh from a sell-out Edinburgh run and preview at Jacksons Lane, Fringe First award winners Blind Summit return with The Other Seder Revisited on Sun 1 & Mon 2 Mar. Audiences can expect more hilarious existential puppet philosophy and newly commissioned music, as well as close harmonies from Dessislava Stefano and the London Bulgarian Choir.
From Tue 3 – Sat 21 Apr, Jacksons Lane will join forces with the Roundhouse and artsdepot to bring CircusFest 2012 to Highgate audiences for the first time. The festival includes Stumble danceCircus’ high-octane Box of Frogs on Tue 3 – Thu 5 Apr and So & So Circus Theatre’s acrobatic Backgammon for Beginners from Wed 18 – Sat 21 Apr.
Other highlights include a furiously loud, faux comeback gig from Action Hero with Frontman on Fri 23 & Sat 24 Mar, a comedic celebration of quirky Highgate and its surrounding areas in Mark Steel’s in Town on Sat 14 Apr and a new rock and roll musical, Kid Carpet & The Noisy Animals, plays on Sat 14 & Sun 15 Apr.

London International Mime Festival is Europe’s leading showcase for ground-breaking visual theatre, starting off each year with a dynamic programme of award-winning new circus, performance art, physical and object theatre - a host of more or less wordless shows that defy categorisation.
