Brand new season, brand new look!

Thu 25 Aug 2PM

Well we’ve just kicked off our new Autumn season (although technically it’s still Summer) and there’s a few changes and developments here at Jacksons Lane, not least our brand new colourful street presence and vibrant interior which is getting North London all a-buzz. At the time of writing we have four productions at the Edinburgh Fringe, including two Fringe Firsts for Analogue and Blind Summit. Congratulations to both – we’re made up for you.

This season sees us moving in more theatrical circles, but we’re not talking Ayckbourn here. JL audiences will be invited to experience some of the most original, visual, innovative new theatre around. Kicking off with Foursight’s brilliant comedic, multi-media story of Bette and Joan: The Final Curtain for a full 3 week run (also playing to packed houses in Edinburgh), we continue with some of the most exciting companies in the UK - the fantastic Little Bulb’s genius of-a-show Operation Greenfield, fusing Christian Rock with anarchic comedy; Penny Dreadful’s Etherdome with its gothic, musical exploration of history and dentistry; and Red Cape’s touching tale of synchronized swimming and coastal towns in 1 Beach Road. If you saw their mind-blowing The Idiot Colony here last year, then I’m sure you’ll be back for more.

We veer into storytelling and spoken word with John Osborne’s tale of the legendary DJ in John Peel’s Shed, also getting rave 5 star reviews in Edinburgh. Circus as ever pops its head above the parapet with the Olympic Unlimited commission Box of Frogs, as well an international feast of physical theatre and acrobatics in Awake. And we are delighted to be a Suspense festival venue for the second time with a wealth of innovative adult puppetry.

That’s just a taster of what’s to come. As ever there’s a host of magical theatre for our smaller audiences with our weekly kids programme, and our half term show The Insect Circus makes a very welcome return.  Last but definitely not least, don’t dare miss our annual Christmas production; The Enormous Turnip promises to be the most unique and heart-warming show around this festive period.

We’re still growing, still listening, still passionate about bringing you the best performance programme in North London. Come and see us soon.
